Brass Waxing and Tuning Brush

Use a brass brush to replace some "structure" into your base.    

Try before waxing, it helps the wax penetrate the base and thus last longer.

Racers should also use a brass brush as the first brush after scraping

Dougie Crawford (World Cup Ski Racer) says:

"Use  before waxing to clean out any dirt picked up over the day and get out any leftover wax this means that more new wax will go into the ski.

I also use a brass brush as first brush after scraping, it gets lots of the wax out of the structure so skis run better.

For training I only do a few strokes with this as I want to leave some wax in the ski as I'm going to do several runs on a pair of skis, this is what I would suggest for recreational skiers. For racing I brush for several minutes with the brass brush  before using other brushes."

Horsehair Waxing and Tuning Brush

Use a Horse Hair brush to finish off your waxing on race days.   

Recreational skiers should use a horse hair brush after scraping as it will get some wax out of the structure (without taking out too much wax) leaving plenty wax left in the base for a full day, or days of skiing."

If you are racing, Dougie Crawford (World Cup Racer) says "I use a horse hair brush as the second brush on race days and for speed training. For race day I brush with brass until nothing is coming out of the ski, and then with horsehair until nothing comes out.

Remember it is the wax in the ski that counts"

Nylon Waxing and Tuning Brush

Use the Nylon brush to finish off your ski and snowboard tuning.

If you are only going to have one brush- have Nylon brush as it is the most versatile.

If you are racing here is some advice from Dougie Crawford  (World Cup Racer) :

"I use the nylon brush last, after brass and horsehair. After the other two can't get anymore wax out of the ski nylon often does. It's a finishing brush and gives the skis a good shine, Making your skis or board ready to fly!."

"The rectangular brush is great but if you are doing a lot of skis the oval one is bigger and makes it easier"
